I had Hawk HPS pads on the front. They were good enough but I wanted moaaar!
Enter Ferodo DS2500. These buggers were not cheap ($185 for an axle) but omg they are were worth it! I got this video:
According to some hand calculations, I stopped from 70mph in approx 50 meters (165 feet). According to RAC, the stopping distance from 70mph is 75 meters. I haz a happy :)

I have these on my STI. Just had my first track day with them. Pretty good, but still faded (and smoked...) by the end of a 20 min session.
They squeak pretty loud in town, but not nearly as bad as Hawk HP+.

Good to know! I won't be tracking the Mini, I just wanted em for the street and the weekend spirited driving. Are they ok when they dont have any temp in them? I'll know tomorrow morning of course....

Definitely fine when cold, and great for spirited street driving, unless you're a complete maniac.

I try not to be a maniac...

I have Hawks on the E38. A bit noisy, and if they are cold you had better not have skipped leg day or you’re probably missing that first stop sign of the day. Very little dust though, and once warm they’re quite good imo.
Put Akebonos on the FX45. Silent, dust free, just the right amount of initial bite warm or cold. I dig em. Probably won’t buy Hawks again.

Which hawks do you have? The HPS were pretty good actually.

They’re HPS’. Not bad, and a definite improvement from the OE Pagid pads that were on it for my needs . Not my favorites though.

May have had something to do with weight. The e38 was 4258 dry, if memory serves.
They weren’t bad in col d weather per-se, it was just that the very first stop after sitting you had to get on it early or really use some mechanical force to get em to bite. After that first stop they’d retain enough heat to keep em working perfectly for the duration. Great stopping power. They weren’t THAT noisy either, but once they warmed up they tended to squeak when coming to a stop sometimes. Nothing major, just prefer they didn’t on a daily driver. One of th e biggest benefits was the lack of dust. The oem pads would blacken the front wheels in no time.
